The Smiley Server isn't just a pretty face! 🙂 This chunky smiley is my thickest board, my only edge-grain board, AND the only board in my collection with built-in handles.

Made from solid poplar and walnut hardwoods, the naturally contrasting woods create that big happy face without any paint or stain. The extra-thick construction gives it a substantial feel, while the built-in handles make it easy to load up and carry the whole thing straight to the table. 😎

It's primarily designed as a charcuterie and serving board, but YES, you can cut on it too! Just keep in mind that poplar is a softer hardwood, so it's better suited for light food prep and slicing than everyday heavy chopping.

CUT IT, LOAD IT, CARRY IT ✦

The built-in handles aren't just there looking cute. Load your Smiley Server up with cheese, crackers, fruit, sandwiches, appetizers, or an entire snack situation, then grab the handles and carry the whole thing right to the table. 😎

And despite the name, you CAN cut on it! It's great for slicing cheese, fruit, bread, garnishes, and other light food prep.

Poplar is a softer hardwood, though, so this isn't the board I'd choose for your everyday heavy chopping and pounding. With repeated heavy knife work, it will show marks more quickly than harder woods like maple or walnut.

But that's also the beauty of real wood. A well-loved board is going to show some life, and if years down the road you decide it needs a facelift, wood can be sanded down and refinished for a fresh surface again. 🪵✨

WHY POPLAR? ✦

That yellow smiley was very intentional! 🙂

I wanted a naturally light, warm yellow wood for the face while still making a board that could actually be used. Poplar gave me the color I wanted without having to make the cutting surface from an extremely hard wood like yellowheart.

The tradeoff is that poplar is softer and can dry out more readily, so this board just asks for a little extra TLC, especially if it sees a lot of water contact.

Keep it well maintained with Cutting Board Oil followed by Wood Wax, and there's no reason to be scared of actually using it! The oil conditions the wood from within, while the wax adds an extra moisture-repelling barrier at the surface.

Cute is important, but so are your knives. 😎🔪

Each Smiley Server is designed and handmade by me, Brandy! Most items are made to order, so please allow 2–3 weeks for me to create yours. If I already have one in stock, I'll ship it right away.

Because real wood is naturally unique, grain and color will vary slightly from board to board, and that's part of what makes yours one of a kind!

CARE ✦

Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, then allow your board to dry completely. DO NOT put it in the dishwasher or leave it soaking in the sink. Water and wood do not mesh! 😭🪵

Unlike my flat boards, there's no need to store this one on its side! The rubber feet keep the board elevated off the counter, allowing airflow underneath, so your Smiley Server can happily live flat on your countertop. 🙂🫶

Because of the poplar, I recommend being a little extra diligent about keeping your Smiley Server conditioned. Apply Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil, allow it to soak into the wood, then follow with Walrus Oil Wood Wax for an extra moisture-repelling layer.

For this board in particular, don't skip the wax, I'll even throw it in for free for ya! Regular oiling and waxing will help keep the wood conditioned and protected.

And remember, knife marks aren't the end of the world! That's one of the great things about real wood. If your board eventually gets scratched up from years of use, the surface can be sanded smooth, re-oiled, and re-waxed to give it a fresh finish again. 😎🪵✨
