It scratched an itch.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe woodworking technique itself is commonly known as a \u003cstrong\u003e“drunken cutting board.”\u003c\/strong\u003e I definitely did not invent it. But of course, I couldn't just call mine that, \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eI'm different.\u003c\/em\u003e 😂  I started calling them \u003cstrong\u003eDay Trippers\u003c\/strong\u003e, developed my own specific way of making the pattern, and I've been making them that way ever since.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt this point, after making \u003cstrong\u003earound 750 of them\u003c\/strong\u003e, I feel like you can spot a Handy Dandy Day Tripper when you see one. 🌀✨\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAND THEN THERE WERE THREE ✦\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first Day Tripper I made was \u003cstrong\u003ewalnut and maple\u003c\/strong\u003e—dark, high contrast, classic checkerboard.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter I posted it, a friend asked if I could make her a \u003cstrong\u003elighter version.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSure!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI swapped the dark walnut for birch (I now use cherry) and suddenly I had two versions sitting in front of me.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eMy Day Trippers were chic. They were ladies.
